Cool Places: The Zen Succulent + Everyday Magic

Some sweet spots in downtown Durham, North Carolina.

This weekend I had a shoot with Mikayla Christiansen Photography for The Authentic Woman Series. Mikayla suggested we go to this super cute succulent shop in Durham for the shoot (with permission). We ventured out to The Zen Succulent and found it attached to another amazing little shop called Everyday Magic. Both these places gave off such a positive vibe with tons of cool products to choose from.

The first thing you’ll notice in each shop are the plants and the crystals, respectively. Now I don’t know much about either- I’m bad at taking care of plants and am uneducated on the energy of crystals. But both of these things are so natural and bring light to any room.

But on top of that, each store also had various other amazing accessories. Everyday Magic had a great collection of books. The ZEN Succulent had a make your own terrarium station. Both had wonderful selections of creative cards and sweet smelling candles.

But anyway, I just wanted to spotlight these two little local shops. Seriously the coolest spots, I took so many pictures of all their products. I will be back to buy more and to buy gifts in the future. I went home with my own little succulent (if you buy a pot and a plant, they’ll pot it for you) and an air plant! Super excited to add some green to my room. Enjoy these lovely pictures and please visit these cute spots!

Everyday Magic is a retail space offering intentionally made goods created by witchy girl bosses (and some boy bosses) from around the world. Carrying a selection of home goods, skin care, accessories and healing objects, our commitment is to beautiful, ethical, and mindfully made objects for your home, body and spirit.”

The Zen Succulent: “Our living landscape creations are a modern take on traditional terrariums inspired by our natural surroundings, love for urban planting and delight in color. We play with the concepts of nature’s classical elements (air, earth, water) though our individual terrariums use of tillandsia air plants, Japanese marimo balls,  vibrant succulent and more plants that each inhabit its respective landscapes.”
